Tuning The Heart Strings Of Your Partnership

“The Heart is a thousand stringed instrument, that can only be tuned with love.”
–Hafiz

Your heart only knows love. But when you are in overwhelm, anxiety or feeling frustration then stress takes over your heart and you lose your sense of connection. It happens so quickly that not only do you stop listening to your heart but also the heart of your partner.

HeartMath Institute’s 19 years of research sheds significant light on how negative thoughts affect your brain and body. During stress “when the heart rhythm pattern is erratic and disordered, neural signals traveling from the heart to the brain affect your ability to think clearly, remember, learn, reason and make effective decisions.” This helps to explain when you act impulsively or make unwise decisions how conflict can arise. In contrast, positive emotions, joy, care and appreciation, create a stable patten and the heart’s input to the brain reinforces positive feelings and emotional stability.

If you find yourself in a constant spiral of negative energy, check for these design features in your home. I have selected common door details as a door symbolizes the mouth and that affects speech, communication and ultimately your heart.

Split at the front entry. One example: if you have a two level home and the stairway is slightly off to one side, one eye sees down a hallway and the other sees the stairs. It can adversely affect everything that is going on in the household as the brain is stimulated unevenly. This creates confusion and an inability to make decisions. Partners can move in opposite directions. An argument can easily get started. To adjust this, hang a crystal ball from the ceiling, directly over the railing post. Or place a plant on the landing, in front of the post.

Biting doors are doors that are slightly out of alignment. You may find them in hallways when two bedrooms are opposite or when a bedroom and bathroom are opposite each other. This design feature triggers conflict, anger and discord. To correct this, place an object on the wall next to the door frame so as to simultaneously draw both eyes to one spot as you exit either door.

Contrary doors open into a wall rather than the large part of a room (it can be any room but most common are front entry and bedroom) everyone in the house may be working hard. They may not be able to complete projects resulting in not enjoying the fruit of their labor. This feature leads to difficulty and relentless disappointment. Fodder for arguing or cold silence between partners. The Feng Shui cure is hang a mirror on the wall that is seen upon opening the door. It expands the space. If there is no room for a mire hang a crisp sounding bell on the door.

Arguing doors bump up against one another when they are opened (either the door knob or the frame). The bumping is like a clash of wills. It is especially detrimental at the front door sending  conflict into the interior of the home, affecting everyone who enters, and it even extends outside the house with whom they interact. The mundane solution is to re-hang the door or doors so that they do not touch. Or perform the Arguing Door Cure (nine red envelope cure).

Piercing Heart doors are three or more doors through which you could walk in a straight line. Together they act like an invisible barrier through a space, which in turn, can create a barrier between partners. The barrier can widen the longer the couple lives in the home. They may not be able to touch the heart of one another. Views become discordant, there may be illness and the family can disintegrate. To change the flow of strong Ch’i hang one or more crystal balls or wind chimes in the center of the rooms between the doors to slow down the energy and break down the invisible wall. Another option is available (nine red envelope cure).

Years ago Berry Kruijning of Crowning Communication shared with me valuable communication advice and I have never forgotten how powerfully effective it was and still is. There are three levels of listening:
Fake listening
Listening for facts
Ask open ended questions, listening for your partner’s feeling and needs. Listen at the heart level. When you are an empathetic listener, you are getting into the other person’s feelings. Be genuinely interested and you will break through the barrier of your conflict.

Relationship expert, Liz Higgins, shares that conscious communication, curiosity and creating a cozy ambience for intimacy (that gets a Feng Shui thumbs up) keeps love alive.

Feng Shui design increases life force and expands positive energy. When you and your partner sync up with the new space you’ve created, you entrain with each other. You also communicate at a higher frequency that helps nourish the intimacy that began as a flutter in your heart.

New Year. New Story.

“Tap the power inside yourself so that it may show up on the outside in what you say, what you do and how you do it.”
Lillian Too

Rise Up In The Year of the Fire Rooster.

The Chinese New Year is the most propitious event of the year that welcomes a fresh start. During the first weeks, the year is still unformed, impressionable and receptive to our intentions, expectations and wide-eyed guidance from our dreams. But how do we maintain our enthusiasm throughout the year? If you are like me and feel you see quicker results when your goals are nurtured with inspiration and diligence, I have a Chinese secret for you. Some years ago Professor Lin Yun, Master of BTB Feng Shui, taught his students there are three elements needed to master success. Deceptively simple yet very powerful these three aspects are: time, location and human factors. Throughout the year I write about the influence of location – Feng Shui on human factors. But once a year I present on “time”  – Chinese Astrology. It’s my belief by sharing the Chinese Zodiac animals’ forecast it will spark a yin-yang balance and help you make accurate decisions on when to make your best move, when to rest and when to let your light shine.

Rat Thank your lucky stars that you have them because this new year you are in a mutually offensive relationship with the Rooster. These lucky stars will avert the bad luck present and steer you towards good fortune. Though your money luck will be fair, your acquisition of it can only be obtain through conventional means. It is not a year to speculate. You may experience a series of small illnesses but they do not cause you harm. The male Rat will not have as good of luck as the female Rat. Family harmony will be good. You will have Helpful People come to your assistance and work will be smooth but be mindful that scoundrels may be working behind your back to cause trouble. Be aware of “Peach Blossom Menace” (relationships with the opposite sex may lead to negative and harmful influences) and “Peach Blossom Disaster”  (circumstances could lead to injury, even bloodshed). Good lunar months are: March 28-April 25; leap month, July 23- August 21; August 22-September 19; November 18-December 17 and January 17-February 15.

Ox you will enjoy the auspicious luck of the Golden Triangle with the Rooster. There is a good chance for a promotion and advancement leading to a higher position and greater power this new year. Academic pursuits are favored and careers will see breakthroughs. Your wealth luck is good; but expect to receive it through conventional means. It is a year that you will be able to hold on to your fortune. There may be some health issues. Learn methods to relax your physical body and your mind. Scoundrels may be afoot, check your back and do not socialize with individuals of questionable character. Remember a harmonious family leads to success of everything. Good lunar months are: January 28-February 25; February 26-March 27; April 26-May 25; leap month, July 23- August 21; September 20-October 19; November 18-December 17 and December 18-January 16.

Tiger with lucky stars present in the Year of the Fire Rooster your career will flourish and you may experience breakthroughs. There will be happy celebrations in your home and the family will enjoy auspicious and smooth luck with good fortune. However there is one unpropitious star. Guard against lawsuits, entanglements and loss of wealth. Don’t gamble nor speculate and be cautious when making investments. There is the possibility of traffic accidents, perform “Driving Safely Cure”. You will find yourself traveling, finding assistance from Helpful People and there will be profits coming from a distant location. Good lunar months are: January 28-February 25; May 26-June 23; June 24-July 23; July 23- August 21; October 20-November 17; November 18-December 17 and January 17-February 15.

Rabbit is in direct conflict with the Year God. Your luck is undesirable, beware you may be living beyond your means. There will be obstacles to making money so much that you may have to sell your assets. There will be one circumstance after another–work turmoil, disputes, projects falling short of completion and scoundrels causing trouble behind your back– that you may throw up your hands. However your love life will be stable and your health will be good. It is a year, dear Hare to remain conservative, passive, modest and cautious. Be wise and play safe. You can perform “The Golden Cicada Sheds It’s Shell” beginning Chinese Lunar New Year’s eve for three consecutive nights but if you missed this opportunity you can do it at the new moon for the next 11 months. Good lunar months are: January 28-February 25; April 26-May 25; June 24-July 23; July 23- August 21; October 20-November 17 and November 18-December 17.

Dragon You are in an auspicious position. Being Rooster’s “secret friend” gives you special status and the enjoyment of good luck this new year. And there are lucky stars in the ascendent. You will enjoy prosperity in all your professional endeavors and helpful people are readily available to assist you. It is a good time to map out your professional ambition and pursue it, start a new career, get married or relocate. However the flip side is some ill possibilities. Watch your health as you might overdo and be discerning with social functions, you may end up exhausting yourself. Your financial luck will come from conventional methods. Be cautious when investing and whom you befriend. Good lunar months are: January 28-February 25; April 26-May 25; May 26-June-23, July 23-August 21; August 22-September 19; September 20-October 19; November 18-December 17 and January 17-February 15.

Snake You have the luck of the Three Harmony in the Year of the Rooster. Not only will your enterprises go as you wish but opportunities will be plentiful and helpful people will be available while fame and profited are expected. The flip side there will be discord in interpersonal relationships and and mental/physical fatigue from the pressures above. Your financial luck is pretty good. Remember to live within your means. Beware of “Peach Blossom Luck”. Be mindful of who you choose to date. Good lunar months are: February 26- March 27;  May 26-June-23; July 23-August 21; August 22-September 19; September 20-October 19; and January 17-February 15.

Horse in a Rooster year will find their fortune fluctuating. You will experience highs and lows and life will feel unpredictable. It will be difficult to finish projects that are started. Be sincere in your efforts and have patience if circumstances become delayed. Luck for wealth sources will abound and it might be that you receive unexpected fortune. In regards to relationships and your emotions it could be a bumpy ride. Rabbit men be aware of women’s working behind your back and Peach Blossom Menace. There may be entanglement and false rumors. Be discerning about associating with those who have ill intent. Older Horses seek immediate medical attention when you become sick. Good lunar months are: January 28-February 25; April 26-May 25; June 24-July 22; July 23-August 21; August 22-September 19; September 20-October 19 and November 18-December 17.

Ram unfortunately you will experience more misfortune than good luck. The road ahead is full of encumbrances and uncertainties. There could be injuries, there could be death with a family member(s). However your social contacts will be a bright spot. You will feel bathed in the light of friendship and camaraderie with helpful people nearby to assist you. Develop your leadership capabilities. Rely on your capabilities. Practice patience and be forgiving. If you focus on stability and harmony you will experience peace. Be mindful of your family’s health conditions. If someone gets sick, seek immediate medical attention. Good lunar months are: January 28-February 25;  May 26-June-23; June 24-July 23; July 23- August 21 and November 18-December 17.

Monkey for you the year will have more difficulty than lucky circumstances. This is due to a lack of lucky stars. Main advise is be vigilant, misfortune could be around the corner. Travel will be on your agenda and lots of it. There might be legal disputes while you are on the road. Office politics might be pulling you in. Men beware of sex traps. Keep your nose out of any situation that smells like trouble. Good advise for the year is remain cautious, let your good judgement not your emotions guide your decisions. Be discerning when it comes to right and wrong, favor and detriment. It is a blessed year to get married, give birth, get promoted and have helpful people help you. Do not however switch careers. As far as resources, be conservative, cut your spending. Your one word mantra for the year, patience. Good lunar months are: March 28-April 25; April 26-May 25; May 26-June-23, June 24-July 23; July 23-August 21; September 20-October 19;  December 18-January 16 and January 17-February 15.

Rooster you are sitting in the Year God’s seat, it will be a hot seat. As you share the same zodiac as the year, it is considered clashing of the signs and your endeavors will not receive favor. “Even with all the lucky stars and powerful gods, there are just too many demons and evil forces out there to counter attack.” There are unexpected events, there may be bloodshed. Pay extra attention to your health and beware of accidents. Some Roosters who are officials will receive recognition while others who are on the payroll will receive financial luck. To appease the calamities of the year perform Appeasing the Tai Sui and Golden Cicada for three nights in a row beginning with Lunar New Year’s eve. If you missed this opportunity you can perform it every new moon until the end of the Year of the Fire Rooster. Good lunar months are: March 28-April 25; May 26-June-23; July 23-August 21; August 22-September 19; November 18-December 17 and January 17-February 15.

Dog the saying goes, “The Golden Rooster fights against the Jade Dog.” The Dog and Rooster are the most conflicting pairs. Watch out for robbery, financial loss, illness, trouble with the government , verbal dispute and gossip. Some residual health issues may trouble you or you may experience a prolonged illness. Your career shows a bright spot on the horizon and helpful people will come to your aid. Be patient, go with the flow, there may a punch or two but deflect them as a prize fighter deflects a right hook. To avert danger and increase safety, perform the Golden Cicada for three nights in a row beginning with Lunar New Year’s eve. If you missed this opportunity you can perform it every new moon until the end of the Year of the Fire Rooster. Good lunar months are: January 28-February 25; February 26-March 27; April 26-May 25; May 26-June-23; July 23- August 21; November 18-December 17 and December 18-January 16.

Pig It is a year of feeling stabilized. There is a star called the Courier Horse, it influences travel. You can expect to have a full itinerary this year. You may get involved with work projects that do not bear results, pay attention when this begins to happen. Your work or your work situation or something at work could change. Be conservative in your finances as your money luck is not promising this year. “During the months of April and July there may be bloodshed,” so beware on the look out for traffic accidents and unlucky events. Pig is usually a fortunate sign. Remain low key and collect your resources so you will have them when the occasion arises. Good lunar months are: January 28-February 25;  February 26-March 27; March 28-April 25; May 26-June-23; June 24-July 23; July 23- August 21; November 18-December 17; December 18-January 16 and January 17-February 15

Year Of The Fire Rooster. Craft The Ultimate 2017.

“As the new year energy crosses your threshold there is a moment of transition, a pause, which will be an opportunity to place inspiration and good fortune on your path. Seize the moment.”
– Marina Lighthouse

Engaging, charismatic, compassionate and enthusiastic, the fearless Fire Rooster steps onto the zodiac stage January 28, 2017. Be prepared to awaken to your divine spark. This year you will be inclined to gather around the home fires, where you draw upon your insight, feel the succor of intimacy, quiet your busy mind with solitude and as the indigo night descends, harmonize with your family and friends.

Facing an uncertain year, cultivating diligence, reliability and strength stabilizes the ups and downs. We see these qualities in the crimson-capped proud Rooster who performs his diurnal dawn patrol. Flying to the highest peak, proudly throwing out his chest and with his kikeriki seizing the rosy dawn, he motivates his comrades to take charge of the day. The Chinese believe it is the Rooster’s crow that loosens the divine spark within us. A spark that awakens the virtues of courage, perseverance, efficiency, generosity and punctuality.

Inventing solutions that create a break through in energy renewal, real estate, construction, high tech, textiles, communication and entertainment will receive the green light. This is the year to emulate the Rooster’s virtues of commitment and hard work to get the payoff you desire.

Wasting energy in this reality-show-kind-of-year is not what you will find the Fire Rooster doing. Fire atop Metal is Fire conquering Metal. You will see drama, possible explosions, perhaps witness bigger than life conflict. However don’t let yourself be paralyzed by what is beyond your control. See the drama for what it is–a reshuffling of an old paradigm that is going extinct. In your personal life walk away from what no longer serves you.

Make this a year of balance between achieving your goals, living your values and enjoying your life when you seize the moment to craft the ultimate 2017. I encourage you to think outside your usual strategies and goal setting. Be generous with yourself: create moments of peace, seconds of hope, hours of stability and days of flexibility. For these are the building blocks of self-love and true happiness. When you take care of yourself, you can give to others. I have created the 2017 Fire Rooster Playbook of Feng Shui Strategies that I believe will invite good fortune over your threshold and good luck into your home.

Position Yourself On Solid Ground. – Improve Your Feng Shui
Your front door, bed, desk and stove are populated with your energy and your family’s. Because these areas receive lots of use, their placement and condition is important to your well-being. Here are some Feng Shui guidelines you may have forgotten or did not know. If you do not use the front door, it can cause a sense of suffocation in the house. And you will lack health Ch’i, wealth Ch’i and all kinds of Ch’i. Open your front door once or nine times a month. If shoes clutter the entrance, this attracts chaos. Purchase a cute cubby to arrange your well-heeled foot gear and start the year on the right foot. If you are prone to headaches or find you get overlooked at work, brighten your entry with the maximum wattage that won’t blow a fuse. Visualize you are receiving recognition for your outstanding job. Your stove represents how you attract money. A microwave, over your stove oppresses your wealth Ch’i. Remove it or place a 3″ round mirror on the hood, over the stove to lift up the hood. Lack of command at the bed and desk can create an inability to see both opportunity and trouble coming. You miss out on support and good advice. “Command position” places you where you can see what is coming through the door and take charge of your affairs. Nurture your partnership with a headboard, it connects the two sides of the bed and you and your partner.

Pay It Forward – Do Kind Deeds
If you do nothing else, this is the adjustment to perform. It comes from His Holiness, Grandmaster Lin Yun and it’s a great secret to a successful life: perform a good deed every day. By helping another person, you shift, not only their reality, but yours as well. A kind deed will improve your luck, lift your esteem and change your circumstances. This creates an opportunity to place good fortune on your path. For emphasis do nine good deeds a day and if you need a boost, perform twenty seven good deeds in one day. But remember that your sincerity is the most important part.

Awaken To Wholeness – Perform Sacred Rituals
BSTB Feng Shui ceremonies are an integral part of beginning anew. They remove the dust of past deeds, attune our hearts, call out our appreciation of the inner space and bestow blessings on what is to come. Taking time to prepare the ground of our home allows what is to come to fully materialize.

Bad Luck Cure: If an entire household is troubled by lots of inauspicious events, do the following: Buy a new black pen and red paper. Or purchase cinnabar ink and buy yellow paper. Cut a circle in 3 inches to 5 inches in diameter. In Chinese or English, write, “One good deed wards off one thousand evil spirits.” Place the charm in a conspicuous location. Complete with the Three Secrets Reinforcements (red envelopes requested for the Three Secrets Reinforcements).

Enact New Year Ceremonies – Invite Prosperity And Fortune
Cultural Chinese Lunar New Year Eve ceremonies: The Five Fold Happiness https://shenmenfengshui.com/articles/the-meaning-behind-chinese-lunar-new-year/

Join the party January 28, 2017. Besides making a “lucky eight” foods dinner, perform BSTB ceremonies to bless your home and invite good fortune. Revel in “Welcoming the Wealth Gods” into your home. Delight in peeling away bad luck during “the Golden Cicada” ceremony and jump up for joy when you throw the orange peel as the clock strikes 12:00 a.m. during “Changing the Ch’i…You will receive these + two bonus cures in the “Three Lucky Feng Shui Secret Traditions Packet”+ Two Bonus Cures and the Three Secret Reinforcements. The packet is normally $36. I have discounted to $27 + nine red envelopes. My way of saying, “Thank you!” Payment by check and red envelopes need to arrive at my doorstep by January 19, 2017 to ensure your mailing will arrive in time. Contact me: bette@shenmenfengshui.com for details.

Set Your Intentions – Make Known What Is In Your Heart.
When making Feng Shui adjustments to your home, visualize your intention for the cure. Calm your mind and see as many details as possible and create the process from beginning to end. This allows the cure to be more real. All things are created twice. First we create something in our minds, then we find a way to bring our creation into the third dimension. The clearer we can visualize our intention the more easily it is to bring it in. What is held in your heart is so powerful that even if you make a mistake with pronunciations or hand gestures the intention and visualization is still more powerful. Intention is always more powerful than form. As long as your intentions are clear your cures will work.

Carry The Animal Talisman For The Year – Offset Bad Luck.
The theory behind getting a new charm every year is that buying something new symbolizes a fresh start and new opportunities are coming your way. The ancient Chinese did not celebrate Christmas, but instead the Spring Festival which celebrates the importance of family. During the two week festival beginning at Chinese Lunar New Year they give little gifts for good luck. In the Year of the Fire Rooster, it is Dragon who is Rooster’s good friend, for it is said when Rooster and Dragon come together “the joy of this encounter is enough to offset any bad luck that the year may harbor.” As a transcendental cure: carry a three dimensional representation of a Dragon (made of boxwood, porcelain, bone or jade) with you during the year, either in your pocket, purse, on your wrist or around your neck.

Wan Shi Ru Yi – May Everything Go As You Wish!
H.H. “Professor” Lin Yun’s commentary on the 2005 Rooster year still applies today. He urges to keep the five virtues (literate, courageous, compassionate, trustworthy and punctual) of Rooster close at heart and to teach it to one’s young. Encourage them to be reliable and true to their word, to be fearless and to be devoted to their jobs. Encourage them to sober up as the Rooster announces the coming of dawn. However tumultuous the times, however great the setback, one needs to be encouraged to work hard and work one’s way out of the problems we face – hopefully this will be a productive year for all.

December 28 New Moon. Are You Willing To Make Lemonade?

“Life keeps throwing me lemons because I make the best lemonade…”
King James Gadsden

There were some lemons in 2016!  But we have the opportunity to make up for those and manifest big at the December 28 new moon. It is a powerful, manifesting moon and the last new moon before the Chinese Lunar New Year, January 27, 2017. Three big positive themes are waiting for your enthusiasm and ecstatic participation. Are you willing to make lemonade?

Surrender To peace, to love, to your Source within. Ask for help. Allow yourself to receive help. Don’t turn down the gifts offered to you. With all the giving you do this creates balance.

Make lemonade We are dealt a hand of cards, but the key is not the cards you receive but how you deal with them that will bring the results you desire. Remember you deserve to be loved and deserve goodness. When you amp up your worthiness your life becomes more peaceful.

Break free At the snap of your fingers what one thing would you change? Switch careers? End a relationship? Change an eating habit? Breaking free of old patterns is an empowerment resolution. You have options and you have the strength to do it.

I am grateful to Doreen Virtue for the power themes he shared in her December 26-January 1, 2017 weekly oracle card reading. I felt a call-to-action to share them. I want you to feel the exhilaration of manifestation and there is no better time than the December 28 new moon.

[During the Chinese Lunar New Year, a Feng shui good fortune cure is to display citrus in your home. However if you are looking to implement citrus in your environment besides displaying it, here is a cleansing recipe you can use now and all year long.]

Natural Remedies To Drive The Cold Winter Away

“Don’t think the garden loses its ecstasy in Winter. It’s quiet but the roots are down there riotous.”
Rumi

Nature is a pharmacy of natural remedies. It may seem counter to our modern sensibilities of running at top speed that the wet, dark slow cold is Winter’s cure. But conserving our life force brings a more robust Spring. Wintertide supports extended periods of rest and rebuilding your reserves. Imagine the hawthorne submerging its energy into its roots; the gestating acorn dreaming of becoming the mighty oak; the bear huddling in its cave, breathing an imperceptible but rhythmic breath. It is a time when your physical strength and psyche are succored by your ancestors’ wisdom. For those of us in the northern hemisphere the weather may be cold this time of year, but for all of us worldwide, we can put to good use these five forbearers’ customs that bring in good cheer.

Create A Circle Of Harmony. Celtic custom: Our entry protects us from the outside so what we place on our door is important. A wreath blesses, unites and insures harmony. A circle is a key feature of a wreath, it suggests inclusion and encloses that which is sacred and our homes are our sacred space. Winter Solstice and Christmas evergreen wreaths cast a field of vitality that protects us during the cold winter months. Look forward to escaping to a holiday instead of setting an appointment with a doctor.

Bring Life To The Dark. Viking custom: Pine, spruce and firs represented eternal life because they remained green throughout the year. Boughs were hung above doorways and over windows as a reminder of the bountiful crop ahead and to ward off ghosts, witches, evil spirits and illness. Evergreens adorned homes on the Winter Solstice, primarily in the belief that the sun, made sick by winter, would be restored to good health at the solstice being both the shortest day and longest night of the year.

Foot note: 25 -30 million real Christmas trees are sold and discarded in the United States every year. When an acre of trees are cut down, the daily oxygen needed for 18 people is destroyed. If you put up a live tree consider one of the following: rent a living tree that is delivered to your doorstep in a pot. Or plant a tree in your yard and on Christmas you can gather around the tree and celebrate with hot cider and songs. (resource from Raeanne Rubenstein)

Decorate With A Splash of Red! Chinese custom: Outside or at the inside of the front door, don’t forget a splash of red. It means happiness and auspiciousness. Its radiance is a heart/mind protector and it dispels negative Ch’i. And who will know but you that you are keeping your home safe and out of harm’s way.

Cleanse With Citrus. Chinese custom: Purchase nine oranges (or lemons). Cut nine round circles from the zest for a total of 81 circles. Break them down with your fingers onto a plate. Take the plate and walk to the front door, then begin clockwise or counterclockwise walking the interior perimeter of your home casting the peels using the “planting seeds mudra”. This space clearing cleanses your home of unwanted energy. Where lemons calm, lighten and refresh, oranges are auspicious and bring good fortune. Leave them one day, three or nine days. And if you are looking to tame your cat, the peels will keep your fur baby at bay.  I am again offering the Chinese Lunar New Year Ceremonies where you can purchase the complete version of this ceremony (see below).

Hyggelig Your Holidays. Norwegian custom: Hygge is a Norwegian word for “well-being”. It is believed to have made the cold and dark winters more tolerable. Hygge (get cozy) is about spending quality time with no agenda. It’s about warmth, humor and being connected. It’s about spending time alone and with family. Remember if you get out your to-do list, it will vanish.  Next time you are with friends, throw into the conversation “this is hyggelig,” and see if you don’t get a smile. (source PBS Newshour)

Ritual celebrations help us link to the past. It strengthens our ties and builds our Ch’i. Celebrations are necessary for society and for the individual–for they are about cultural identity, life transitions and personal discovery. The Chinese believe they form a spiritual protection against unseen forces. Creating stability leads to success and prosperity.

My mission is to help you strengthen your Ch’i. I have put together “Three Lucky Feng Shui Secret Traditions Packet”+ Two Bonus Cures and the Three Secret Reinforcements (body, mind, speech) to amplify your intentions. $27 + nine red envelopes. November 29 New Moon I Seize The Cheese

“Real generosity towards the future lies in giving all to the present.”
Albert Camus

November 29 new moon the legendary Rat expertly sniffs his way onto the Zodiac stage. In the number one position of the Chinese Zodiac this rodent is a nose ahead when it comes to sizing up a situation and acting on it. Very social with a charming personality, Rat is curious, imaginative, has a great wit with an amazing memory which is perhaps why he/she is the most auspicious Chinese symbol for success and wealth. Rat can see the detail within detail and their heightened awareness makes them masters at seizing opportunity. This month borrow Rat’s super powerful x-ray vision and refine your sensibilities. With your polished sixth sense you’ll have the nose of a rat to seize the cheese. Carpe diem!

Start the new moon with a little sleuthing through the Chinese astrology forecast to find your animal protector and then be prepared to seize the cheese for you and your loved ones. Rat: your health may take a turn, seek immediate medical advice. Take precaution against theft and burglary, check your entrances and doors. Money could be lost. Overall be conservative in your dealings and do not begin any construction. Ox: much celebration!!! Expect lots of wealth and joy! But be careful when selecting a partner for a joint venture, there can be disharmony. Go for what you want and take advantage of opportunities, don’t hold back. Tiger: Helpful People abound. You will find you will receive twice the reward with half the effort. If you are on a job interview or making a long term business projection this will go smooth. Expect adversities to turn into blessings. If you decide to perform good deeds the merits gained will enable wealth and fortune to flow naturally to you. But beware of scoundrels talking behind your back. Rabbit: the month shows some less favorable conditions: money loss, traffic accident – pay attention to safety wherever you go. Perform the “Driving Safely Cure”. Do not travel this month if you do not need to. Dragon: this new moon brings a Three Harmony month. Expect auspiciousness, prosperity  and joyous celebrations. Your wealth and career are flourishing as well as your family financial situation is blooming. However beware of traffic accidents. Snake: “befriend those who exert good influence  on you and you will get the assistance of Helpful People.” Don’t talk about others and do not interfere in their business. Guard against unrighteous behavior from friends and relatives. Beware of accidents and be cautious, the energy is rife for being cheated and deceived. Horse: it is a “Direct Conflict” month. Your luck this new moon and your attitude will not be the best. You will encounter difficulties both inside and outside the household. It is advised to chant the White-Robe, Kuan-Yin mantra both morning and evening to help you feel calm and stable. Ram: “it is a confrontational month and your luck will be the worst of the year” so be passive, remain low key and practice patience. Your finances will be fair but be cautious about spending more than you earn. Monkey: “the sun has come out after days of rain.” Starting this new moon all your dealings and operations will be  joyous and satisfactory. Money luck will be good! Seize the day when it comes to your career or a relationship. Rooster: it is a “Mutually Offensive month” and your luck will not be the best. Helpful People will be at your side but exert forbearance in your words and your behavior. Observe the rules and regulations and remain enterprising. “Pay attention to your diet for illness finds its way by the mouth.” Dog: the sun is shining on your luck and it is running better. Whatever you  choose to do it will be supported. If you keep the faith and act with sincerity your career will climb. However monitor your expenses with your income, you would not want to find yourself in an embarrassing situation. Pig: “it will soon be the end of a bad year however do not let your guard down, misfortune has a tendency to escalate at the end.” In short be extremely careful in all that you do at the commencement of this new moon. If you request a cure from this forecast, I will ask you to honor the red envelope tradition. Have a great month, Zodiac friends!

Thank you to Khadro Crystal Chu, Black Sect Esoteric Buddhist Feng Shui for your unfailing command of Feng Shui and Chinese metaphysics.

“Busy Making Plans” Become Priceless Surprises

“Life happens when you are busy making plans.”
John Lennon

My “busy making plans” was to write a space blessing blog. But this was abruptly tabled last Wednesday when in high density traffic my car was rear ended. The explosion of breaking glass and the helpless feeling that my car was out of my control served to intensify the fear that it was moving without my volition, straight towards an unsuspecting Nissan directly in our path. I say our path, my little Shih Tzu, Coco was my passenger. Moments like these wipe out the sparkle of a friend’s laughter just hours before and the dinner I was cooking in my head. Time eerily stood still. No past. No future. Just the pounding in my ears and the slow motion of my brain trying to comprehend the whirlwind around me while my body ached for safety. By God’s grace it stopped. When the smoke cleared and the damage assessed, the cost was apparent: irreparable automobile loss. The upside, no life was lost: priceless.

Accidents have an uncanny way of rattling your routine. But beyond their inconvenience, powerful truths can emerge like the phoenix rising from the ash. Inside this blog I share “five graces” that have deepened my appreciation for life plus I am passing along two life-saving “Driving Safely Cure” you will definitely want to protect your car.

Detour from plans that keep you busy, slow down. My “busy making plans” for the evening: eat dinner, connect on Facebook and write. But the force of two cars colliding changed all of that. The impact wasn’t just metal crushing metal, this collision impacted my consciousness too. Since the accident I have become acutely aware of another force, a spiritual force of healing I have not felt in this way before. What has arisen is a force of forgiveness and deep gratitude that all involved are here to laugh and hug our loved ones again.

Watch for grace, even when circumstances appear unfavorable. Val stopped her car behind the driver who caused the accident. She may have had plans that evening but her heart told her this was where she needed to be. She kept the other driver company amid the wind and din of traffic. She took him to the hospital after his car was towed and said she would return for me if I needed her. Her compassion lessened the strain of our ordeal.

Expect there is love for you when life explodes into chaos. All of us are doing our best. The outpouring of care and concern and love and advice from family and friends has greatly eased the emotional trauma of this unfortunate occurrence.

Pray for what you want, not for what you see. I would never wish for an accident. And despite the material loss of time and personal transportation, those are incidental to the big picture of what an accident teaches – letting go. If you can let go of controlling the outcome and let your prayers be the standard for what you want, what you see will be the best possible outcome.

Take the high road, even though your circumstances have turned upside down. Throughout this ordeal I have come to appreciate how systems work and the people who serve those systems. I’ve learned the efficiency of our municipal processes in emergency situations and how insurance companies get our lives back on track. And most important I continually am reminded of my attitude and how it influences all of this coming together easily (or not). I attribute this to the philosophy of alignment, Feng Shui.

I am deeply grateful to H. H. Lin Yun for his supreme wisdom for extending Feng Shui beyond the four walls of our home. The “Driving Safely Cures”I perform on every car I have owned. These cures cast a field of protection in and around my automobile. In my heart I know their power prevented an extended trip to the hospital and much worse, a casualty. I want you to receive this protection too! Here are two “Driving Safely Cures” I used on my automobile.

Driving Safely Cure no. 1: Red String on the Steering Wheel
What you need:
9 inches of red string or red ribbon (or a multiple of nine inches)
Procedure:
Place the string under the mattress for nine nights. On the day after the ninth night, tie the string to the steering wheel. Say a prayer from your tradition and visualize the car and its occupants are safe.

Driving Safely Cure no. 2: Crystal Ball
What you need:
1 faceted lead crystal ball, 40mm
9 inches of red ribbon or red string (or a multiple of nine inches)
Procedure: Using a piece of red ribbon or string (cut in a multiple of nine inches), hang a crystal ball from the rear view mirror. Say a prayer from your tradition and visualize that the crystal ball is both absorbing and reflecting the light of Buddha and/or all the auspicious light in the universe. Visualize that the car and its occupants are safe.

Postscript: Coco and I are doing all right. We have been to the vet and the doctor and receiving treatment.

October 30 New Moon I When Pigs Fly…

When pigs fly (indeed they might this new moon)…
People will treat you the way you treat them.
You will never be judged by appearances.
You will never be take for granted.
Your heart will never be broken again.
People will know what you have been through.

When you fly…
None of those things will matter.
Spread your own wings and soar!
Bryant McGill

October 30 new moon the unassuming Pig quietly takes the Zodiac stage. Pig is the last of the Chinese Zodiac animals but the first animal to consistently practice self love. Honest, calm, discerning, fair, tolerant and kind, they are loyal to their friends. They have a strong interior grasp of life and the people around them so they can be in the company of family and peers yet spend time alone. Their self love, their self worth, enables them to remain patient and persevere when times become difficult.

With the radiant summer sun a memory and the fruitful autumn harvest behind us, winter can bring a cold chill to our hearts. During this time call upon Pig’s reliable sense of self love to warm and sustain you during the dim, frosty months. This super power is a potent reserve that will lift your emotions from fear and bring you the resolve to stand firm when you feel judged, endure a broken heart and carry on if you have been treated unfairly. With self love you can lift yourself out of despair and soar.

Start the new moon with letting yourself F.L.Y (First Love Yourself). Soar by the stars when you set your GPS to this Chinese astrology forecast. Rat: a month to be realistic. You might lend towards worry but that will only intensify what you are worried about and it may bring obstacles. An antidote is doing good deeds and lots of them. While you are helping think how pleasurable it is. This way the merits  you have accumulated will to eliminate anxiety and sorrow. Ox: it is a busy month with lots of travel and lots of work. But to your advantage the more you apply your time and talents the more you gain. There may be a death(s) in the family. Do not visit the those who are sick, in the hospital nor attend wakes and funerals. Watch your own health, prevention is better than a cure. Tiger: it’s a Six Harmony month! Much good fortune will come your way –increased wealth, your status will rise, career advancement and if you own a business, expect it to accelerate. However be mindful of what you say, it could cause you trouble. Be aware of unexpected worries. Rabbit: Helpful People will surround you and you will enjoy fulfilling interpersonal relationships. Wealth luck will be smooth. Good fortune is favored. This month your mind will be clear and happiness at your doorstep. Do not visit the sick or enter a hospital or you will experience a minor disaster. Dragon: this new moon your luck is on the rise. While disaster is being dispersed, wealth and prosperity are readily available. Whatever you attempt you will achieve satisfaction. Though things are progressing, do not be overly smart or else you will be a victim of your own cleverness. Snake: luck of the month is in Direct Conflict. You may experience more unpleasant circumstances than happy ones. Couples will be arguing and big family issues may emerge. Remain patient and maintain a calm mind. Use your wisdom to approach problems. Be aware you may health issues may come up. Best advise: relax your mind and connect with nature. Horse: your luck will glide but be mindful of your career and family. They will take more than stamina so commit to them and remain calm. It is common for those in fortunate positions to overlook their luck; but if you show appreciation and appreciate your good luck you will avoid minor transgressions. Ram: if you decide to travel beginning this new moon you will encounter Helpful People and reap profits. When leaving home on a trip abroad, perform BSTB “Walking on Red Cloth” cure and visualize you will have safe travels with everything going smoothly. It is not wise to invest this month and be cautious of interpersonal relationships. Monkey:  are in a Mutually Offensive and the Most Confrontational relationships. You must be extra, extra at the beginning of the new moon and throughout the month. Do not take trips, purchase real estate, change careers, start a new business or host a grand opening. Though there will be an influx of money, monitor your expenditures in accordance to your income. Rooster: luck of the month is Most Confrontational. Rooster: your money luck is good. Expect your investments will pay premium dividends. The harder you try at work the more the bigger your harvest. In business planning forbearance is key. Be judicious with timing and you will reap results. Do not be impatient or there will be waste. Dog: your luck is on the rise. Both business planning and processes will run smoothly. If you have a joyous occasion, go all out and celebrate. Beware of death in the family as well as illness. Pig: there is more misfortune than good luck. You may be doubting and hesitating which could spoil your plans. Do not travel and refrain from changing jobs. Be mindful of your finances and do not initiate any legal action. If you request a cure from this forecast, I will ask you to honor the red envelope tradition. Have a great month, Zodiac friends!

Breast Cancer Never Takes A Day Off!

“The only person who can save you is you: That going to be the thing that informed the rest of my life.”
–Sheryl Crow on being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Breast cancer never takes a day off. About one in eight (12% in the US) women will experience this invasive, malignant shadow over the course of their lifetime. For me it came home the moment my oldest sister, Grace, heard the words, “You have a malignant tumor in your breast.” Her world came crashing down and her dreams dissolved into a puddle on the floor. For 18 years she “battled” nausea, pain, depression, sadness, stress, anger and the despair that she would not get the life back that she once knew. Though Grace didn’t survive cancer, she was a survivor.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You may not think of turning to your home to address your health however neuroscience continues to uncover evidence that indicates your environment is a large part of your wellness package. As you know from my blogs and if you have had a consultation with me, I share that multiple factors influence our life’s situations, particularly when we are dealing with illness.

I believe education is an important part of our health picture. In holistic health Feng Shui is part of the cure. I have included some design features that deplete your Ch’i. Plus I have included Feng Shui cures and natural solutions to help you fight off illness and cancer, because I want you to believe you can take your health into your own hands and survive anything.

General Illness
Environmental
If you are sensitive to toxicity in the environment such as carpet off-gassing or paint fumes, one of the ways to address this is to:
–Plant a garden. The greenery has beneficial affects on your vitality, nervous system and general well-being.
– Go outside, walk barefoot in your backyard or in a park. “Just touching the earth, which is electrically conducive, neutralizes free radicals in your body and brings you back in sync with the earth’s energy field. Upon contact, the negative ions from the earth’s surface rush into our bodies to discharge the many unpaired positive ions (or free radicals) we’ve picked up from modern living.” – “Healing By Grounding”, Radical Beauty, Harmony Books, Deepak Chopra, M.D. and Kimberly Snyder, C.N.
If you know you have toxins in your body, you can neutralize them by performing “Ice-Cold Heart in a Jade Teapot”.*

Reoccurring
If you want to minimize the reoccurrence of illness:
Make an adjustment to a house that is situated too close to the front of the lot and especially if the lot is rounded at the back.

Fluctuating
If your health is constantly seesawing:
– Make an adjustment to a building with many levels, especially if it is a residence.
– Adjust a stairway in the center.

Persistent
If your illness never ceases and just persists:
– Make an adjustment to a dead tree that is planted directly in front of the main door.
– Make an adjustment to a sickly tree that is planted directly in front of the main door.
– Make an adjustment to a tree that protrudes and pokes at you as you walk up to the main door.

Chronic
If your condition is chronic.
–Make an adjustment by removing dead plants from the front door.

Breast Cancer
H. H. “Professor” Lin Yun’s first and foremost advice:
Find a doctor who is a specialist. Seek a second opinion.
Seek an oriental doctor. If these avenues do not prove helpful seek holistic healing.
Feng Shui
– Adjust the Relationship gua and the T’ai Ch’i position (the center of the house).
– Perform the Red Slipper Cure* (for cancer in general). It is also a cure for other illnesses, bad luck and legal problems.
– Place nine vital plants around the front door (for cancer in general).
– Practice the Sunshine Buddha Exercise.*
– Plus practice the Medicine Buddha Six Ch’i (Sound) Healing.*

If you are in the Pacific NW, I will be at Nu Life Chiropractic and Sports Medicine, Thursday, October 6 5-7 p.m. as part of their Women’s Wellness Event to promote breast cancer awareness. Please stop by. I would love to meet you and answer your questions. The address is: 14 SE Grace Avenue, Battle Ground, WA 98604. See you Thursday!

*Please contact me, 503-232-2543, if you have a health concern or you are dealing with cancer.
