De-stress The Holidays With Full Moon Rituals

“The moon does not worry….It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore? The moon is faithful to its nature and its power is never diminished.”
– Taoist Master, Deng Ming-Dao

Not only is the year ending in a few weeks, but this month closes the decade. Questions are likely distracting you. Will I get it all done? Can I afford the expense of the holidays? Will my family make demands? Will my in-laws get along? There is a light on December 12, a full moon light that has the potential to shift you out of any anxiety and transform that anxious state into bliss; to bring heaven to earth allowing you to enjoy the season with family and friends.

The numerology of the December 12 Full Moon (1212) signifies something has changed for the better and you have gone through some type of portal or gateway. It means “Have faith in your dreams. You are on the right track.” If you read my blogs you are familiar with my message: Feng Shui is a portal through which you can advance your development by consciously designing your space. To access the auspicious full moon energy, I have included four methods to add to your Feng Shui toolkit. These rituals will help you enhance your savvy, establish a mindfulness routine and unleash the power within you because in your being you’ve got this.

Cool down
Full moon light clears your thinking. We are all innately wise but how do we access it at will? The wise men of times past would consult the Heavenly bodies to heal their hearts and minds. If they needed a remedy, a healing, a purification, they consulted the moon or the sun. The December 12 full moon light can bathe you with its restorative power. If you feel fuzzy, distracted, angry or overwhelmed, walk out into a clear space like a park or a field, free from electrical wires. Stand facing the moon. Open your arms to receive. Feel the cool, yin energy. See your body, your mind, your spirit relax and the moon’s essence washing over you. Neither Motrin nor Benadryl have the power like you to put the pieces back together when life is out of balance.

De-clutter
Full moon energy increases your attention to detail. Marie Kondo’s simple and gentle advice for releasing the physical things that no longer serve you is a wonderful full moon ritual. Begin days before the full moon. Take fifteen minutes. Hold the object in question. Ask yourself does it bring me joy? Do I feel love? If not, thank it with sincerity for the time it served you and find it a new home.

Release
Full moons highlight endings. This is an opportune time to purge emotions, trauma, grief (if you are ready), suffering and what has been blocking you. Purchase a new white candle(s), find an area where you will not be disturbed. Best times are 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. If this is not doable, December 12 is an auspicious date so you can perform this ritual at any time that is suits your schedule but ideally you want to see the moon when you look out the window. Orange or lemon essential oil is perfect for purifying your space. Pour a few drops onto the burning candle or use a diffuser. Or cut circles out of the zest of an orange or lemon and sprinkle around your room. Visualize the light of the full moon encircling you. Write down what you want to release on several slips of paper or just one page. Say out loud what you want to let go. Throw the paper into a small fire-proof cauldron or cooking pot or let the candle burn them. Feel the burden lift off of you. Feel your breath deepen in your tan’tien (belly). Feel the transformation in your heart. You have exited one portal and entered a new phase of your life.

Amplify
Full moon power can increase your intuition. Performing rituals illuminate your senses, not just your mind. They have the capacity to activate a full body awareness. This advanced awareness accesses your subconscious which can annex universal information/super knowledge, the source of all creativity (Edison accessed infinite intelligence to create his inventions. Mozart wrote his music note perfect the first time. He said when he sat down to write the entire opus, it would come into his mind and he would simply transcribe it onto paper). If you need an answer to a difficult problem, give it to your subconscious at bedtime and it will download a creative solution. But you are not limited to sleep to source your creativity, you can do this at any time of the day. Maintaining a daily meditation practice is key. It helps you focus on your goals and inspiration will come to you more easily. If you do not have a mediation practice contact me and I would be happy to discuss what BSTB meditations might work for you.

Full moons expand human consciousness. We are in need of big compassion this time of year. His Holiness, Grandmaster Lin Yun gave us a secret to a successful life: perform a good deed every day. By helping another person, you shift, not only their reality, but yours as well. A kind deed will improve your luck, circumstances and income. Kindness is the antidote to the economic down turn. For emphasis do nine good deeds a day and if you need to really shift energy, twenty seven good deeds in one day. But remember that your sincerity is the most important part.

May 26 New Moon. Horse Sense.

“When your heart speaks, take good notes.”
– Judith Campbell

May 26 new moon the friendly, passionate Horse came to the forefront of the Chinese zodiac. With a zeal for life, those born under the Year of the Horse are warm-hearted, fervent and generous. Horse is a loyal companion and consistently there for their friends. Patient when it comes to hearing out what other people have to say, they excel at resolving conflicts, their own and most everyone else’s. Their independent nature and unwavering vitality are key characteristics that help them survive obstacles. Interestingly these traits are the bulwarks that support their rise to the top of their career.

In the Chinese zodiac Horse rules the time between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. In Chinese medicine this time is ruled by the Heart. 2017 has posed challenges for humankind. Our collective heart is speaking. It is saying spread more love and compassion. Call on your super power, compassion. Give away your patience, your ear, your time and  your heart. In spreading good deeds, acts of compassion form a shield against arguments and tension. Negative energy cannot incubate in an atmosphere of kindness.

It is Chinese summer. The fruit is ready. What delectable harvest might you enjoy this month? Rat: you are in direct conflict with the sign of the month. Set the dial high on your radar. You may encounter unexpected lawsuits and accidents. Best advice: maintain a low profile and be conservative. Ox: you and the Horse are in the most confrontational relationship this month. Pay attention to your health. Be aware that disasters could come out of nowhere. Err on the side of caution and be conservative rather than taking big steps. Tiger: you are in the Three Harmony this month. Helpful people will be assisting you. Revel in the glow of prosperity in your wealth and career. Ride the wind, let things flow and good fortune will find you. Rabbit: luck is not good this month. You may find that matters will be difficult to navigate. Wait for better timing. Chanting the Heart Sutra mantra morning and night will help you maintain peace and a serene frame of mind. Dragon: helpful people will assist  you in attaining your goals. Not only career,  you can expect to gain profits and expand your wealth. Be mindful of partnering with zodiac signs who are not compatible with your own. Conflict will likely show up later. Snake: your luck is laser like this month. Be mindful of business relationships with new friends, you could be taken advantage of and lose money. Horse: best to see things with a philosophical perspective. Safeguard your home and household. Be cautious, be conservative, do not be careless. Think before speaking and avoid vanity and greed. Ram: the month is a six harmony month. You will have the best luck of the year. Stay the course in all your endeavors. Watch for illness and accidents. Monkey: good time for your affairs to fall into a routine. Be cautious and modest and you will avoid scoundrels. Rooster: a month to turn your gaze onto peace and tranquility. Take the high ground and do not gossip or put your nose into other folks’ affairs. Advice: chant The White Robe Kuan Yin mantra. Dog: your persistences pays off, helpful people will back you, luck is at its best. Don’t let trivial things nor petty people bother you. Take more time to relax. Pig: concentrate on your career. Changing jobs is not recommended at this time. If you become sick, seek medical attention immediately. Avoid attending to the bereaved or going to funerals. If you request a cure from this forecast, I will ask you to honor the red envelope tradition. Have a great month, Zodiac friends!

December 11 New Moon. Dancing With The Stars.

“That’s what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, get all tangled up, just tango on.”
–Lieutenant Colonel Frank, Slade, Scent of a Woman

Dancing with the stars and the December new moon, Rat skillfully glides onto heaven’s indigo sky. Rat, the first animal of the Chinese Zodiac is associated with water, the start of life and wise souls are they. Life shows up for everyone as an occasional unexpected event or un-welcomed change but with Rat’s clever mind, quick-witted response and steady persistence, he/she can untangle a difficult situation and tango on with ease. Grounded, peaceful, social and caring, Rat is devoted to friends and family. Love runs deep and when things go sour, they can easily get their toes stepped on. However with philosophical perseverance, they gracefully two step through sorrow to come back to their inherent disposition of peace, hope and happiness. If conflict arises, take a hint from Rat and tango on. The holidays are here to enjoy!

For some Chinese zodiac animals the month may feel like a switch in tempo. Be prepared with these Month of the Rat soundbites if your dance partner waltzes you into a fox trot and onto a rumba. Rat: helpful people are watching your back but it is not an excuse to drive in the fast lane. Be conservative and you will easily gain what you desire. A month to focus on harmony in relationships. Ox: a Six Harmony month! The auspicious energy will have you feeling your best. Wealth luck is extremely good. Potential for a wedding or special occasion is in the air. Besides all this luck continue to perform good deeds then your success will take little effort. Tiger: a good month to be reserved. Speaking could lead to mistakes. The stars indicate accidents or disasters could happen. You could be offered a promotion, accept it! Rabbit: focus on family and your partner this month. Your finances are on the upswing. You have the opportunity to make money from proper and alternative sources. Perform good deeds to help you get past any adversity. Dragon: a red banner month! Career, happiness, wealth and good fortune find their way to you. Helpful people are nearby to support you. Be careful about impulsive actions. Snake: luck is riding on your shoulders! Your finances rise and your investments pay dividends. Wherever you have put your efforts, the energy comes back to you, even in the form of a promotion opportunity. Horse: be mindful, the energy has shifted and there are dark clouds on the horizon. An accident involving blood is possible. Don’t be drawn into other people’s affairs. Live honorably and play it safe. Ram: a “Most Confrontational” month. Not only will you experience obstacles but your peace of mind will be affected. There may be malicious gossip about you. Keep a low profile and remain conservative. Monkey: money and fame follow you everywhere. Your family is united or reunited and there will be great joy from this. If you are a business person you receive a promotion. If you are a student you receive recognition. Rooster: you may be feeling unstable. You and your loved one may have spats that affect you at work. With your colleagues be compassionate. But that applies to everyone too. Dog: adversity is around the corner, focus on calm to get you through. Never trouble until trouble, troubles you. Pig: like a beautiful lake everything looks calm when in fact you have a lot on your mind. You may experience disputes with family and peers. Settle quickly with an agreement.

Happy Holidays, Zodiac Friends! May all your wishes come true!

Five Holiday Giving Ideas That Reclaim The Spirit Of The Season.

“You’ve always had the power, my dear. You’ve had it all along. You are capable of more than you know.”
– Glinda, The Good Witch Of The North, The Wizard Of Oz.

I danced around the house the day of the TV screening of The Wizard of Oz. I fell in love with kindly Glinda. I wanted Dorothy’s dark curls and ruby slippers. Scraggly Scarecrow, the melancholy Tin Man, the silly Lion and scrappy Toto filled my child’s imagination. It was all I needed at the time, but the story said so much more. It took 40 years for me to understood the power in it: your rewards in life are not so much about the adventures but the characters who become friends. They do not slide into your life by accident, they have the one unique skill that will burn the witch when you are under fire. Because of their love, generosity, grace and good-heartedness you survive in this world. And you are this gift for someone too. The holidays are almost here. Will the spirit get buried in the hustle and bustle this year? I’ve put together five holiday giving ideas that, I believe, reclaim the spirit of the season.

A reminder of why.
“Some thoughts as we enter the holiday season…It is important to remember that not everyone is surrounded by large wonderful families. Some of us have problems during the holidays and sometimes are overcome with great sadness when we remember the loved ones who are not with us. And, many people have no one to spend these times with and are besieged by loneliness. We all need caring, loving thoughts right now. Share this to give a moment of support to all those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just need to know that someone cares. Do it for all of us, for nobody is immune.”
–Facebook post

Do it for all of us.
Dorothy did have the power but it was the good heartedness of her friends that got her back to Kansas. The same can be said of our collective goodwill and personal abundance, they are dependent upon each other. Rather than keep the power, we stimulate more good when we give it away. We have an opportunity to turn one life or a community around this holiday season. These five holiday giving ideas keep everyone’s spirit up and our spirit alive.

  • Love
Spread your heart. Fear and hopelessness come from feeling isolated. Giving your partner, family member or friend a twenty-two second hug releases the bonding hormone and neurotransmitter oxytocin, which is nature’s anti-depressant and anti-anxiety drug. For a stranger, give them a grin, it’s a gesture they won’t forget.
  • Forgiveness
Rewrite your story. Is there a grievance with a friend that hasn’t been resolved? Call or write them a letter. Sincerely express your feelings. Ask for forgiveness. You may change their heart and definitely you will have changed the past for a better future. If you need a prompt, here is the loving forgiveness prayer of  Ho’oponopono written by Dr. Joe Vitale: “I love you, I’m sorry, forgive me, thank you.”
  • Kindness
Stop your humbug. Simple gestures performed with compassion create miracles. Pay a compliment, share your seat on the bus, play with a child or walk an elder across the street. This spreads a contagion of abundance and interconnectedness that is needed most right now.
  • Generosity
Give your time. Treat holiday panic by doing something for someone who could never repay you. Serve soup at a homeless shelter. Adopt an assisted living care resident for the holidays. Converse with them, read a story, bring a gift. Involve your children with making handmade gifts for the Christmas bazaar or prepare dinner once a week for a shut-in neighbor. Engaging your hands with your heart feels good.
  • Peace
Calm your heart. You don’t need to take on the ills of the world nor even one person’s misfortune, but when you give a bit of loving kindness, your generosity, your time, your talent you give a bigger gift: you expand borders from your heart to another and you defeat depression and build community. Performing good deeds with no expectation creates peace and that makes things right with the world.

Gifts for you.
I received such an overwhelmingly positive response to these two blogs last year that I am sharing them with you: Take Back The Holiday. Look East To Savor Thanksgiving Dinner With Six Feng Shui Trimmings and Restoring Grace: A Ritual To Replenish Your Spirit During The Holidays.

Blessings for an abundant November!

Eight Lucky Cures for St. Patrick’s Day, Feng Shui Style.

Can we change our surroundings to bring about change for our own good?

Happiness said, “Let’s meet.” Serendipity replied, “In a blink an eye”. How lucky I am. I wear green because it brings me the luck, not of the Irish, but of Feng Shui. It shifts circumstances from bad to good, from stuck to serendipity. Or is that a superstitious belief.

Cindy emailed and said she met a wonderful man. I think back a few months ago when I came to her home. As we talked at her dining room table she said she wanted to get her consulting business up and running again. But as I sat there I felt the white curtains, the white walls in her apartment and the white flowers in her bedroom tell a different story. White symbolizes death for the Chinese. When I told her this she shared how badly she had been burned in her past relationship. She didn’t want to admit she was unhappy and at a crossroads. But then the tears started to flow uncontrollably, there was no hiding how she felt. So when she wrote me a few weeks ago with, Also, since I last saw you, I met a wonderful man. We’ve been having great fun getting to know each other. I’m enjoying myself tremendously.” I was ecstatic for her. It was more powerful, more compelling than any new client prospects she could have told me about. In my mind’s eye I could see her hanging new curtains in her relationship gua with a broad smile beaming over her face. And a sparkle of happiness lift her heart when she hit the nail to place the red and white framed cat drawing that she loved. In the bedroom she arranged a vase of beautiful pink flowers next to her bed; they were robust, bursting with vitality. Bit by bit these secret delights started to reshape her world and her inner confidence bloomed once again. The adjustments helped her to open to the vulnerability that she felt in her heart.

Building a new life using Feng Shui adjustments, each item that Cindy placed was crafting a future moment of joy. Fate works this way: happiness creates opportunities and serendipity follows.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day: luck cannot be contained by borders, it’s spread by the currents of love. May the luck you receive be generous like the blessings from heaven above.

From our esteem founder of the Black Sect Tantric Buddhist School of Feng Shui, “Professor” Lin Yun, here are eight lucky cures for St. Patrick’s Day, Feng Shui style. It’s an opportunity for you to change your energy field and change your fate.

Adjust the Feng Shui in your bedroom and office
Professor Lin told the following story: I was recently sick and almost died. I had not been in my office in Berkeley which is my main office for a very long time. It was important for me to be there, to check in and to be sure all was well. It was important for me to:

  • Sit in my office chair.
  • Activate (place a cures like a water fountain in Career and a picture of a beautiful place you’d like to visit in Helpful People). If you do not check in, bad luck may “catch up with you”.
  • Place a crystal ball, or a wind chime, in the center of your office. Visualize that the Feng Shui of your life is positive.

 Changing Your Ch’i Type

  • If you are constantly in a bad mood change this by wearing a solid color of green.

Adjust the Effects Of A Bad Experience

  • Carry nine round pieces of orange peel for twenty-seven days to soften the effects of a bad experience.

Being Taken Advantage Of

  • If you feel you are being taken advantage of, carry the three dimensional zodiac animals.

Refocus Your Energy

  • If your luck is not good, every 9, 18 or 27 days, change some aspect of your furniture arrangement. You are changing the Ch’i using the sense of touch. Your Ch’i will be refocused, and awakened.

Still Encountering Bad Luck

  • If you have completed the Feng Shui above and still encountering bad luck, perform good deeds without expecting a reward. Be sincere, you will never be disappointed.
