12 Feng Shui Prosperity Cures For Demanding Times

“Where you find peace is where your home is.”
– Chinese Proverb
Split second changes in the economy, world affairs and especially our personal relationships can utterly alter our sense of security. It’s in demanding times like these that Feng Shui rises to the top to offer a unique moment to stage our homes to offset instability. The natural world has always befriended mankind. Flora and fauna are no stranger to textiles, art and home furnishings in Chinese Feng Shui. Surrounding ourselves with robust creatures and auspicious greenery invoke their highest strengths that help us claim our prosperity and sense of well being. Strategically placed plant and animal symbols garner opportunities, bless our dwellings and uplift the Ch’i. Representations of dragons, horses, peonies, orchids, bamboo… on our walls, hallways and lawns suffuse our spaces with joy, luck, prosperity and safety. In this May blog discover how to attract a partner with an orchid, where to place a horse to create success, what tree will improve your children’s education and much more. Selectively placed, these Black Sect Feng Shui cures, I believe, will help you and your family to flourish.

If you daydream about a partner look to the orchid to find the individual who is just right for you, for the orchid symbolizes refinement, friendship and beauty. Enhance this adjustment when you place a pink or purple orchid in the Relationship gua (Kun – far right back of the house or the bedroom). Pink is the color that represents Kun. Visualize the perfect person walks into your life. You will know they are the one.

The magnificent horse has advanced human civilization for countless centuries. When you place an image of a horse galloping into your home, this suggests “you may advance speedily to your goal”. Because the Chinese language is layered with homonyms, puns are used with fervor. The number eight rhymes with the word ‘to prosper’ or ‘to attain wealth’. When you place eight horses in a framed image or a sculpture of eight horses in the Helpful People Gua, you call upon horse’s energies of power, endurance, firmness and strength.

A tree shaped like a pyramid is auspicious in Knowledge for it reinforces the shape of the trigram- mountain. Plant this tree shape in the front left corner (facing the house from the road) to ensure your children absorb the knowledge that will help them advance in their studies.

Animals that live in or along the ocean contain the vastness of Water. And Water symbolizes wealth. Wealth is desirable because it correlates to freedom, freedom to choose how you want to live and go where you want to go and do what you want to do. Landscape the front corners of your property and you create a rounded shape like a crab shell. This auspicious shape will bring:
Great wealth and prosperity.
Blessings and success to the offspring
Enhance fame and spread one’s good name far and wide.

The gracious bamboo with its ability to bow in the wind represents vitality and flexibility. And as long as it remains healthy it showers the recipient with its blessings of peace and prosperity. It teaches dignity, wisdom, longevity and fidelity. Three bamboo stalks in the Wealth gua are auspicious. Three stalks represent the trinity of happiness, wealth, and longevity (also represent past, present and future). Adding a fourth stalk represents stability, strength and power.

Flowers and their meaning are deeply embedded in Chinese culture and they serve to convey epic messages that express powerful positive emotions. A peony, the national flower, stands tall and symbolizes prosperity, happiness and peace. A peony in a vase expresses the wish for prosperity and peace because the vase symbolizes peace. Pictured with a lotus, chrysanthemum and plum blossom, the peony symbolizes “peace and fortune in the four seasons.” An auspicious placement for one’s bedroom or the Wealth gua.

Divine beast, the imperial dragon is regarded as descending from the Heaven realm. Its intense power delivers great good fortune. The Dragon brings upon the essence of life, in the form of its celestial breath, known as ‘shing ch’i’. It yields life and bestows its power in the form of the seasons, bringing water from rain, warmth from the sunshine, wind from the seas and soil from the Earth. Being a divine mythical animal, the Dragon can ward off wandering evil spirits, protect the innocent and bestow safety to all that hold his emblem. Displaying a five toed gold dragon (not red for that is a cooked dragon) in your Helpful People area of either your bedroom, home or office petitions the creative force of Heaven to enhance your life.

When the voluptuous persimmon appears as a symbol it denotes an energy which would remove the obstacles and allow things to proceed smoothly. When the cypress, ganderma and the persimmon fruit are combined it implies that things should be not just unobstructed but also as ‘willed’. Your business will bloom during demanding times when you plant a persimmon tree for in the Chinese language persimmon sounds like “booming market”. Place an image of a persimmon in the Children gua and be ready to receive winning ideas to bolster your business.

If you are a coach, a mentor or wish to teach, place an image of a plum tree in your home in most any area of the house. But if you want to share your wisdom effectively place it in the Knowledge gua. Here it will foster the qualities of a charismatic teacher and student relationship. The metaphor of plum means students everywhere (around the world).

Associated with luck, long life and the divine fruit of the gods, the Chinese believe the peach can make people perpetually young and peach petals create an intense trance of love. The peach tree represents longevity and the peach wood wards off evil. If you are searching for a partner place peach blossom petals in a bowl in the Relationship gua of your bedroom. Once you have found your beloved remove the petals (for you might attract another suitor) and replace them with an image of a peach tree to create a long lasting relationship. When you are certain of your partner take the image down and either plant a pear tree in your back yard or hang an image of a pear tree in your Relationship gua. The sound of pear in the Chinese language is the same as sharing.

More than just prized for its eminence, the tiger in China is considered the king of all beasts as it symbolizes power and a great deal of nerve. Traditionally it is a symbol of luck, success and achievement. The embodiment of ‘yang’ enery the tiger is a ‘solar animal’ and associated with the sun, summer and fire. It represents protection, generosity, illumination, but also unpredictability. It is revered as the symbol that wards off the main disasters of a household – ghosts, fire, and thieves. Tigers are also associated with the God of Wealth, who is often seen sitting on a tiger in Asian art. In ancient Chinese myth, there are five tigers that hold the balance of cosmic forces and maintain harmony. Place an image of a tiger in your Fame gua (center back section of the house) if you are looking to enhance your career. But never place two tigers in your bedroom for you may destroy  your partnership as it is known that tigers will claw each other to the death.

If a deer crosses your path you are lucky. This gentle ungulate is an omen for happiness and riches. Its name is a homonym for the word abundance and it is known for its endurance, grace and long life. Deer is regarded as a symbol for longevity in China. The God of Longevity is often shown with a deer and it is reputed to be able to locate the herbs of immortality. Deer statuary will bring happiness and good fortune. If you have an inauspicious pillar placement in your home, hang images of dragons and/or other auspicious animals on the pillar such as a deer, a phoenix… and visualize that these images will bring you wealth and status.

Year Of The Fire Rooster. Craft The Ultimate 2017.

“As the new year energy crosses your threshold there is a moment of transition, a pause, which will be an opportunity to place inspiration and good fortune on your path. Seize the moment.”
– Marina Lighthouse

Engaging, charismatic, compassionate and enthusiastic, the fearless Fire Rooster steps onto the zodiac stage January 28, 2017. Be prepared to awaken to your divine spark. This year you will be inclined to gather around the home fires, where you draw upon your insight, feel the succor of intimacy, quiet your busy mind with solitude and as the indigo night descends, harmonize with your family and friends.

Facing an uncertain year, cultivating diligence, reliability and strength stabilizes the ups and downs. We see these qualities in the crimson-capped proud Rooster who performs his diurnal dawn patrol. Flying to the highest peak, proudly throwing out his chest and with his kikeriki seizing the rosy dawn, he motivates his comrades to take charge of the day. The Chinese believe it is the Rooster’s crow that loosens the divine spark within us. A spark that awakens the virtues of courage, perseverance, efficiency, generosity and punctuality.

Inventing solutions that create a break through in energy renewal, real estate, construction, high tech, textiles, communication and entertainment will receive the green light. This is the year to emulate the Rooster’s virtues of commitment and hard work to get the payoff you desire.

Wasting energy in this reality-show-kind-of-year is not what you will find the Fire Rooster doing. Fire atop Metal is Fire conquering Metal. You will see drama, possible explosions, perhaps witness bigger than life conflict. However don’t let yourself be paralyzed by what is beyond your control. See the drama for what it is–a reshuffling of an old paradigm that is going extinct. In your personal life walk away from what no longer serves you.

Make this a year of balance between achieving your goals, living your values and enjoying your life when you seize the moment to craft the ultimate 2017. I encourage you to think outside your usual strategies and goal setting. Be generous with yourself: create moments of peace, seconds of hope, hours of stability and days of flexibility. For these are the building blocks of self-love and true happiness. When you take care of yourself, you can give to others. I have created the 2017 Fire Rooster Playbook of Feng Shui Strategies that I believe will invite good fortune over your threshold and good luck into your home.

Position Yourself On Solid Ground. – Improve Your Feng Shui
Your front door, bed, desk and stove are populated with your energy and your family’s. Because these areas receive lots of use, their placement and condition is important to your well-being. Here are some Feng Shui guidelines you may have forgotten or did not know. If you do not use the front door, it can cause a sense of suffocation in the house. And you will lack health Ch’i, wealth Ch’i and all kinds of Ch’i. Open your front door once or nine times a month. If shoes clutter the entrance, this attracts chaos. Purchase a cute cubby to arrange your well-heeled foot gear and start the year on the right foot. If you are prone to headaches or find you get overlooked at work, brighten your entry with the maximum wattage that won’t blow a fuse. Visualize you are receiving recognition for your outstanding job. Your stove represents how you attract money. A microwave, over your stove oppresses your wealth Ch’i. Remove it or place a 3″ round mirror on the hood, over the stove to lift up the hood. Lack of command at the bed and desk can create an inability to see both opportunity and trouble coming. You miss out on support and good advice. “Command position” places you where you can see what is coming through the door and take charge of your affairs. Nurture your partnership with a headboard, it connects the two sides of the bed and you and your partner.

Pay It Forward – Do Kind Deeds
If you do nothing else, this is the adjustment to perform. It comes from His Holiness, Grandmaster Lin Yun and it’s a great secret to a successful life: perform a good deed every day. By helping another person, you shift, not only their reality, but yours as well. A kind deed will improve your luck, lift your esteem and change your circumstances. This creates an opportunity to place good fortune on your path. For emphasis do nine good deeds a day and if you need a boost, perform twenty seven good deeds in one day. But remember that your sincerity is the most important part.

Awaken To Wholeness – Perform Sacred Rituals
BSTB Feng Shui ceremonies are an integral part of beginning anew. They remove the dust of past deeds, attune our hearts, call out our appreciation of the inner space and bestow blessings on what is to come. Taking time to prepare the ground of our home allows what is to come to fully materialize.

Bad Luck Cure: If an entire household is troubled by lots of inauspicious events, do the following: Buy a new black pen and red paper. Or purchase cinnabar ink and buy yellow paper. Cut a circle in 3 inches to 5 inches in diameter. In Chinese or English, write, “One good deed wards off one thousand evil spirits.” Place the charm in a conspicuous location. Complete with the Three Secrets Reinforcements (red envelopes requested for the Three Secrets Reinforcements).

Enact New Year Ceremonies – Invite Prosperity And Fortune
Cultural Chinese Lunar New Year Eve ceremonies: The Five Fold Happiness https://shenmenfengshui.com/articles/the-meaning-behind-chinese-lunar-new-year/

Join the party January 28, 2017. Besides making a “lucky eight” foods dinner, perform BSTB ceremonies to bless your home and invite good fortune. Revel in “Welcoming the Wealth Gods” into your home. Delight in peeling away bad luck during “the Golden Cicada” ceremony and jump up for joy when you throw the orange peel as the clock strikes 12:00 a.m. during “Changing the Ch’i…You will receive these + two bonus cures in the “Three Lucky Feng Shui Secret Traditions Packet”+ Two Bonus Cures and the Three Secret Reinforcements. The packet is normally $36. I have discounted to $27 + nine red envelopes. My way of saying, “Thank you!” Payment by check and red envelopes need to arrive at my doorstep by January 19, 2017 to ensure your mailing will arrive in time. Contact me: bette@shenmenfengshui.com for details.

Set Your Intentions – Make Known What Is In Your Heart.
When making Feng Shui adjustments to your home, visualize your intention for the cure. Calm your mind and see as many details as possible and create the process from beginning to end. This allows the cure to be more real. All things are created twice. First we create something in our minds, then we find a way to bring our creation into the third dimension. The clearer we can visualize our intention the more easily it is to bring it in. What is held in your heart is so powerful that even if you make a mistake with pronunciations or hand gestures the intention and visualization is still more powerful. Intention is always more powerful than form. As long as your intentions are clear your cures will work.

Carry The Animal Talisman For The Year – Offset Bad Luck.
The theory behind getting a new charm every year is that buying something new symbolizes a fresh start and new opportunities are coming your way. The ancient Chinese did not celebrate Christmas, but instead the Spring Festival which celebrates the importance of family. During the two week festival beginning at Chinese Lunar New Year they give little gifts for good luck. In the Year of the Fire Rooster, it is Dragon who is Rooster’s good friend, for it is said when Rooster and Dragon come together “the joy of this encounter is enough to offset any bad luck that the year may harbor.” As a transcendental cure: carry a three dimensional representation of a Dragon (made of boxwood, porcelain, bone or jade) with you during the year, either in your pocket, purse, on your wrist or around your neck.

Wan Shi Ru Yi – May Everything Go As You Wish!
H.H. “Professor” Lin Yun’s commentary on the 2005 Rooster year still applies today. He urges to keep the five virtues (literate, courageous, compassionate, trustworthy and punctual) of Rooster close at heart and to teach it to one’s young. Encourage them to be reliable and true to their word, to be fearless and to be devoted to their jobs. Encourage them to sober up as the Rooster announces the coming of dawn. However tumultuous the times, however great the setback, one needs to be encouraged to work hard and work one’s way out of the problems we face – hopefully this will be a productive year for all.

Have you decided this will be your year? “Boldness has genius”…start with one hour of Feng Shui A La Carte. Think of it as a fairy godmother for your house.

Double Your Happiness With 8 Feng Shui Bedroom Tips

“There is only one happiness in life: to love and be loved.”
– George Sand

Conscious communication, curiosity and a cozy ambience for intimacy keep love alive writes relationship expert, Liz Higgins. I could not agree with her more. Since it’s Valentine’s Day add a little Feng Shui because an element of surprise is the gateway to intimacy. Surprise your partner with one or all of these 8 Feng Shui bedroom tips and revel in the magic!

  • To nurture your relationship, place nine lush plants in the bedroom. The demands of work can deplete your stamina. The plants’ vitality will lift your energy, giving you the focus to show your partner how much you care.
  • Purchase a diffuser (found at most grocery stores or online). Include in your purchase a stimulating aroma like sweet orange essential oil. Ylang Ylang is a scent that draws lovers together. Add a few drops of each to the diffuser and percolate your romance.
  • Texture initiates the senses. Satin or 300 count cotton sheets will shift your attention to your affections. And don’t forget color. Green is invigorating, yellow is comforting, a deep pink hue is invitational, chocolate brown satisfies both partners tastes. Enjoy the sensation of how these caress your bodies.
  • Good communication is the basis of a lasting relationship. Purchase the best headboard your money can buy. Preferably solid wood but slats are acceptable too. Make sure the headboard is securely fastened. It connects the two sides of the bed so it connects you and your partner. And a little secret to help the Ch’i flow, make sure your mattress is up off of the floor.
  • Place your bed so you can see the door but not in line of the door, that’s “taking command”. However if that’s not possible because your bed is on the same wall as the door, add a standing fashion mirror and watch the tension fade away.
  • If you want to attract a broad range of wooers and widen your field of possibilities, especially if you’ve only been drawing to you one type (and now that no longer works for you), hang a convex mirror in the partnership corner. The meaning of a convex mirror is to take in a broad view or expand your view. You can place this in either your bedroom or the main floor of the house.
  • Another Feng Shui bedroom tip, this one is for men (but this can work for women too). If you want to attract a partner but detest pink in your bedroom, use the Five Element colors (green, red, yellow, white and black) in a balanced proportion by selecting furnishings and accessories along with paint choice that contain these colors. You can put these in the bedroom or any where in the house. They work best when you add your intention. And once you find your partner, the Five Elements creates stability in your partnership because combining all five covers all the basis.
  • If you don’t have a partner or if you want to enhance your relationship with your partner, go to a Chinese wedding ceremony. If they use cinnabar rice or any rice take it home in a red envelope. Place it in your car, or on your desk or in your child’s room. It is not only auspicious Ch’i of a wedding but auspicious Ch’i of all kinds. Your child will benefit, you and whomever rides in your car will be safe and it can benefit your career. For your partnership place the red envelope in the partnership area of your bedroom. Visualize creating the good fortune, health and abundance that shine forth on a wedding day.

The Double Happiness character (which you see adjacent to the text in this blog) is often found in Chinese restaurants and at celebrations. The character for happiness is set side by side. The bottom parts of the symbol can look like the number “8”. Eight is “Ba” in Chinese. It sounds similar to the word, “Fa” which means to make a fortune. It contains the meaning of prosperity, success, and high social status too.

Besides these 8 Feng Shui bedroom tips, make luck to find love and make love to keep the love you find with one of these two packets (one for singles and the other for couples).

Crouching Tiger, Hurtful Words. Feng Shui Relationship Advice Saves A Couple’s Love.

You may be conscious of what you put in your tummy and how it makes you feel, but do you know that a picture hanging in your home can turn a pleasant mood into anger? A fine art print or painting may be executed beautifully but if the image is violent, it impacts not only your sense of safety and well being but your partner’s as well. Here is Mary’s story about seeking relationship advice. When I consult for a client, after I arrive at their home, we sit down, talk about the floor plan and discuss the goals they want to accomplish. Mary was living alone and renting. She was quiet about her life, all she really revealed was she wanted more income. Her dream was to sell her jewelry and earn a good living at it. She was very talented but didn’t feel confident in her abilities. When we started touring her home I saw a Chinese silk painting of  fighting tigers in her bedroom. It was in her Partnership corner. When I asked about her relationship, she started describing the problems with her current boyfriend in detail: argumentative, hurtful, close to violent. I pointed to the claws and said there is part of your problem. Tigers will fight to the death. Those claws had turned into fighting words and she was ready to throw in the towel. I recommended she retire the image. After I left, she immediately took it down. Mary was very motivated and followed the cures I gave her. Once she selected the color that pleased her eye, she painted the room. It was a beautiful, Benjamin Moore, “dusk pink”, a Partnership color. She added plants to bring life force and more oxygen for clear thinking. She hung a round mirror above the bed so there would be no rough edges to the communication between she and her partner. Mary also placed a light at the front door to help with clarity as the entry represents the head. Right away a change ocurred. It was a miracle in her eyes. Her boyfriend stopped acting moody and defensive. She stopped being apologetic. The words between them softened and they started listening to each other again. They worked out their differences. Mary gained confidence. She asked for a raise where she worked and the owner invited her to display her jewelry. Her good luck came back.

The Ba-gua, the Feng Shui octagon, is a time tested method to evaluate the energy fluctuations in a home (ex. a stairway is a design detail with up and down movement. When it is in the wealth gua, it will create instability around money. You may not know when you will get paid or you lose money easily). The eight sided shape is used as a template and superimposed onto a client’s floor plan because it symbolizes important life situations: career, knowledge, family, prosperity, reputation, partnership, children, helpful people (with health in the center). The Ba-gua reveals how these life situations interact. Angularity of walls, color, furniture arrangement, decorations and art in one area will affect another area but equally all who live under the roof or who come in contact with the space. When Mary confessed to her problems with her boyfriend she was able to see the influence of her choice in art. This discovery was the piece that saved her mind.
