December 11 New Moon. Dancing With The Stars.

“That’s what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, get all tangled up, just tango on.”
–Lieutenant Colonel Frank, Slade, Scent of a Woman

Dancing with the stars and the December new moon, Rat skillfully glides onto heaven’s indigo sky. Rat, the first animal of the Chinese Zodiac is associated with water, the start of life and wise souls are they. Life shows up for everyone as an occasional unexpected event or un-welcomed change but with Rat’s clever mind, quick-witted response and steady persistence, he/she can untangle a difficult situation and tango on with ease. Grounded, peaceful, social and caring, Rat is devoted to friends and family. Love runs deep and when things go sour, they can easily get their toes stepped on. However with philosophical perseverance, they gracefully two step through sorrow to come back to their inherent disposition of peace, hope and happiness. If conflict arises, take a hint from Rat and tango on. The holidays are here to enjoy!

For some Chinese zodiac animals the month may feel like a switch in tempo. Be prepared with these Month of the Rat soundbites if your dance partner waltzes you into a fox trot and onto a rumba. Rat: helpful people are watching your back but it is not an excuse to drive in the fast lane. Be conservative and you will easily gain what you desire. A month to focus on harmony in relationships. Besides all this luck continue to perform good deeds then your success will take little effort. Tiger: a good month to be reserved. Speaking could lead to mistakes. The stars indicate accidents or disasters could happen. You could be offered a promotion, accept it! Rabbit: focus on family and your partner this month. Your finances are on the upswing. You have the opportunity to make money from proper and alternative sources. Perform good deeds to help you get past any adversity. Dragon: a red banner month! Career, happiness, wealth and good fortune find their way to you. Helpful people are nearby to support you. Be careful about impulsive actions. Snake: luck is riding on your shoulders! Your finances rise and your investments pay dividends. Wherever you have put your efforts, the energy comes back to you, even in the form of a promotion opportunity. Horse: be mindful, the energy has shifted and there are dark clouds on the horizon. An accident involving blood is possible. Don’t be drawn into other people’s affairs. Live honorably and play it safe. Ram: a “Most Confrontational” month. Not only will you experience obstacles but your peace of mind will be affected. There may be malicious gossip about you. Keep a low profile and remain conservative. Monkey: money and fame follow you everywhere. Your family is united or reunited and there will be great joy from this. If you are a business person you receive a promotion. If you are a student you receive recognition. Rooster: you may be feeling unstable. You and your loved one may have spats that affect you at work. With your colleagues be compassionate. But that applies to everyone too. Dog: adversity is around the corner, focus on calm to get you through. Never trouble until trouble, troubles you. Pig: like a beautiful lake everything looks calm when in fact you have a lot on your mind. You may experience disputes with family and peers. Settle quickly with an agreement.

September 13 New Moon. Mercury Retrograde and Rooster.

“What is unique about rooster is its ability to keep time for humans which leads the Chinese to the conclusion there is a divine spark in the rooster that makes it capable of this unique task.”
–Tian Rao

Heaven has a lot in store for us this month! September 13 new moon + solar eclipse, Mercury Retrograde, September 17, 2015  and August 27, full moon + lunar eclipse. Dig deep and plan your strategies for the fall. Review your goals. Beautify your home with a Feng Shui remodel or redecorate. If you need stability or to strengthen your boundaries add earth tones – all range of yellows, oranges and brown tones, you could even stretch it to mocha and chocolate. Take more self care opportunities, schedule a mini-retreat by getting a massage, going to a Nature park or sit in silence by water. These fruitful labors will yield an abundant harvest.

If you find the retrograde a challenge the Rooster will have your back. And here is why, from Tian Rao, the five virtues of the Rooster: “The Rooster dons a crimson cap, a mark of literary sophistication! It claws its enemies, what martial prowess! It calls to its cohorts when food is available, a creature of compassion! It fights to the death with its nemesis, what bravery! And it never fails to keep time, a trustworthy soul. What is unique about rooster is its ability to keep time for humans which leads the Chinese to the conclusion there is a divine spark in the rooster that makes it capable of this unique task.” How might your life change if you eliminated some of these characteristics? Kindness being the top of the list. Doors would open as if by magic.

What do the stars say about your Chinese zodiac animal in the Month of the Rooster: Here are soundbites to help you stay out of harm’s way. Rat: your romance area is going marvelous but career and finances are tipsy. Be patient and refrain from being extravagant. Ox: luck of the month is gradually getting better. Look in the mirror and pinch yourself, wealth and romantic luck are getting better and you have warm glow radiating from you. However beware of entrances and portals to your home. Tiger: travel this month for your career and helpful people will show up in spades. Enjoy Peach Blossom Luck but don’t let it develop into Peach Blossom Disaster. Do good deeds but also find ways to equip yourself. Rabbit: you might want to plan a lot of time in bed. Conflict is likely the entire month with your sign in confrontation with Rooster. Its a time to practice diplomacy and reserve. If you must and if you can take long retreats – that’s the silver lining. Dragon: smooth sailing – career prospects will improve and financial fortune will follow accordingly. As you ascend stay focused on your path and not others’ affairs. Do good deeds daily. Snake: Three Harmony Luck! You will receive good news on all fronts. If you are in a romantic relationship, marriage is highlighted. Career prospects are outstanding so don’t sit back and wait and don’t hesitate. Horse: you will experience many gains in both fortune and happiness. Be conservative, don’t spend beyond your means. Be cautious when you speak so those who have an axe to grind cannot distort your words. If a family member gets sick, seek medical advice promptly. Ram: not so lucky this month. It will feel like your endeavors are thwarted. There might be a death in the family. Avoid visiting people in the hospital, if you do go carry nine round orange peels. Monkey: help and guidance surround you. Be careful of conflict in interpersonal relationships. People could be gossiping about your. Handle it calmly and don’t let it disrupt your work. Rooster: good and bad luck play out this month. Beware of blood shedding incidents, traffic accidents or minor surgeries. Chant the Five Thunders if you go to the hospital to visit or be admitted. Dog: a confrontational month, there could be turmoil, disputes and betrayal. Boost your luck with the Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell. Pig: try, try again and you will succeed and your luck returns. Financial picture is bright in the second half of the month. Invest into savings or establish a new business partnership.

What Matters To The Heart – Six Feng Shui Details To Make Love Last.

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye”.
– Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Oh, your beautiful heart! Crimson repository of your secrets, it knows what feels right and essential to your happiness. It manifests the dreams you aspire; gives you courage to choose what your eyes desire and fervently pursue whom you adore…. But some times your heart becomes entangled and you can’t find the reason to explore. For Love’s sake, I am sharing six Feng Shui design details to clue you in to what may be derailing your heart. These details are known to sidetrack, hijack and waylay this precious organ of affection. Included with each are individual adjustments to keep your heart healthy and free from undue environmental pressure and stress. Because when it comes to love and life, the simple secret is what matters to the heart.

Piercing heart doors  Three or more doors you could walk through in a straight line. They can create an invisible barrier through the house, which can create a barrier between family members. As it becomes stronger over time, the partners, parents or children become more  and more removed from each other. Hang one or more crystal balls or wind chimes in the center of the rooms between the doors to slow down the ch’i and break down the invisible wall.

Beam over your heart crossing the bed  This feature places pressure on the heart that leads to couples arguing, even over seemingly insignificant details. Move the bed if possible. Or hang nine 40mm crystals (9″, 18″ 27″ from the bottom of the beam) to lift the beam off of the bed. Visualize the crystals lifting the beam.

A knife edge that comes at the bed  Poison arrows are called  “sha ch’i”. This poison arrow may be directed at one of the partners. They in turn may feel criticized and act defensive. Hang a 40mm crystal in increments of nine (9″ 18″ 27″) from the ceiling in front of the offending corner. Visualize the crystal diffusing the negative Ch’i of the arrow.

Stairway in the center of the house  Stairways conduct Ch’i from one level to another. When there is more than one level life is more complicated; maybe more ups and downs, illness and loss of money. Health issues may result causing one or both partners to lose time from work. Doctors’ bills rising and minimal income, partners may argue over money. Hang a large mirror at the top of the stairs to lift the Ch’i. Visualize the movement of the stairs is stabilized and assets and health coming into balance.

A bed on a door wall  Partners may be plagued by anxiety and migraines. One of them may even develop heart arrhythmia. Move the bed if possible. If not, place a mirror on the opposite wall from the bed to reflect the bedroom door entrance. This will relax the mind and smooth out the Ch’i.

Biting doors at the entrance to the MBR  Doors that are slightly out of alignment with one another may result in conflict between partners. If they are mis-aligned by exactly one half, not only verbal but physical fighting may arise. Over a prolonged period this weakens the heart. Place objects, such a mirror next to both doors. This draws the eyes simultaneously to the adjustment as you exit either door.

Feng Shui Safety Checklist For Your Home

Safety might be the last thing you connect to Feng Shui design.

Imagine walking a tight rope. Would you feel anxious, nervous, frightened, think you are going to fall? Very likely. This experience is no different to your brain than a corner that acts like a finger pointing at you, making an accusation. Or a wall that blocks your way and throws you off kilter or a small, dark, confined entry that pounds upon your head. Your body’s first response is to feel nervous, anxious and unsafe. Next your body will bring your attention to the matter by sending a smoke signal to your emotions. If that doesn’t get a response, you’ll find yourself getting sick. What a thread, one scenario can cause.

As a Feng Shui consultant I look for how I can help you understand your unique living arrangement and make your home more suitable for your personal lifestyle, maintain your good health, harmonize your relationships and create overall peace of mind.

When a client calls often they have a crisis on their hands. A daily drama they’ve tolerated for months, maybe years, erupts and no longer do they have the coping skills to deal with it. I tell them the good news is there is a Feng Shui solution. And I want you to know that too.

Here is a little mantra that I share. It is BIG in empowerment and leads to real change: “your home is your second body”. If you are feeling worried, carry vague anxieties around in your head, don’t sleep well at night, suffer from a chronic health issue, lose money and are overlooked for a raise or job you want, it’s not “just life”.

Wouldn’t you love an alternative to “just life”, one that makes you feel secure, stable and balanced? Feng Shui adjustments actively address problem areas in your home, create stability, power up your energy and give you confidence to handle what life delivers.

Is your home Feng Shui safe? If you suspect it’s causing some of your problems or you feel uneasy, here’s a mini checklist to determine if you have imbalances and how they are affecting you. There are more than I can list here but it’s a good way to get started and expand your thinking about safety in your home.

Feng Shui Safety Checklist

Accidents and Bloodshed

  • A door that is nailed shut suggests a hole in your physical body.
  • Seeing the stove through the kitchen door from the front door can cause illness, surgery that involves bloodshed.
  • Shoes left at the front in disarray can cause unexpected events and accidents.
  • Anything in front of the bed, furniture that is too large in the room can cause you to stumble and fall.
  • A bed that faces out of the bedroom door and you face the stove, that position can cause an accident or illness involving serious bleeding.
  • A stove that backs up to a desk causes danger which can involve an accident.

Arguments with family members

  • Split at the front door: the brain is stimulated unevenly, the two sides begin to lack coordination. You may think more and act less, or the opposite, you may act more and think less. Either situation, an imbalance is created which can create illness along the midline, confusion, and an inability to make decisions. There can be endless arguing, even violence.
  • Too many doors in a hallway: a door represents a mouth. Here is an opportunity for arguments to ensue among you and your partner or you and your child.
  • Biting doors: doors which are slightly out of alignment with one another create a split and this may create a trauma. There may be conflict between parents, or arguments between the parents and children. You may lose your friends. Where you work you may experience internal strife, power plays, and back stabbing.
  • Arguing doors: doors that bump up against one another when they are opened create conflict and they are especially offensive at the front door. Conflict may spread throughout, affecting everyone who comes into the house even people outside with whom you interact.

Health Issues

  • Bathroom in the middle of the house can drain your life’s resources. Not only poor health may make your family suffer, years on end but into future generations.
  • Blocking wall at the front door will have you feeling blocked from moving forward in your career. Health wise your shoulders start to round down over your heart and lungs causing back, heart and respiratory difficulties.
  • Stairs that ends too close to a wall or door may inhibit the flow of ch’i both in your home and your body. You and your family may be blocked in some way, physically, emotionally, and perhaps your career.
  • A toilet back to back with a bed can create an unusual, uncommon or undiagnosed illness which can take it’s toll on the resources of a family.

Money Troubles

  • Fireplace in the middle of the house will burn up money, create infamy instead of fame and your career may slow to a trickle. Feeling hopeless, your happiness may be reduced to indecision and doubt, depleting your vitality.
  • Blocking wall at the front door may find you struggling in your career and you may entirely fail.
  • Contrary door is when a front door opens into a wall rather than the room. You may work hard and not enjoy the results of your labor. Life could become exhausting and filled with disappointment.
  • House below the street: every exit will feel difficult to get up and get out. You may become more and exhausted each day. You can lose time and energy. It greatly affects your ability to begin or follow through on any project.
  • Trapezoid lot that narrows at the back can also bring unfortunate luck over time. The wealth gua is in the far back left corner and if it is diminished in size that will affect incoming flow of money.

Need to see it to understand? Here is a link to Floor Plans Matter, examples of common design details and how they affect occupants’ Ch’i. Perhaps you will recognize your home in one of this.

Under The Covers With Five Element Color. How The Hues You Sleep With Influence Your Success.

As a Feng Shui consultant, I share with my clients that color is a strong influencer in their waking mood, their office attitude and their appetite for life. If you are at one end of the spectrum, feeling stuck, struggling to organize your schedule or the other, ready for a bold change, take a look at the color of the sheets you are sleeping with.

In a Xerox Color study 83% of individuals polled believed color makes them appear more successful. Because it is pervasive in your surroundings it influences your emotional well being. Selectively working with color you can create good relationship communication, improve your memory retention and be conscious of your purchasing choices.

The relationship between Feng Shui and Five Element Theory is rooted in Taoist theory and Chinese cosmology. The five traditional Chinese elements are wood (green), fire (red), earth (yellow), metal (white) and water (black). When these elements interact they create change in the natural world. Change is essential for cultural progress and personal development.

21st century stress comes from many sources. What I call “Five Element color bathing” harmonize the imbalances produced by stress. Carefully choosing color for your home, whether it’s the front door, the seat of your opportunities or the bedroom, the seat of your personal manifestations, will help you develop the flexibility to claim what is important to you. Here are five, Five Element tips to help you rethink what’s under your covers.

Lost your inspiration? The characteristics of Fire are excitement, intimacy and intuition. It’s hot, bright and vibrant. The Fire personality loves to merge and understand the experiences of other people. Perfect ingredients for a night of passion.

They also need time alone to re-ignite their creative fire. If you have lost your inspiration, direction or spark, sleep on apple green sheets to kindle the embers of a fire that has burned out. When you have recovered your radiance, switch to coral, pink or rose colored sheets. They emulate the radiate warmth of the summer sun and support all manner of ardent quests.

Can’t keep to a schedule? When immediate action is required, Wood arouses and awakens. These qualities are essential for love making but they are also the main attributes to seed a brilliant idea or kick off an amazing project.

If you vacillate, call upon your Wood to recover your enthusiasm. Sleep on sage, sea or wasabi green linens. These will bathe you in Wood’s quick, inventive, constant spirit and help you get into gear. Feel directed to organize your life. Wake up refreshed with a renewed spirit to push forward like the first blush of spring.

Always Trying to Please? People are the Earth person’s project. Nurturing, sympathetic and caring, they are the peace maker, the one who places everyone at ease. What matters to them happens in the home. When life stops working, they collapse. Generally it’s because they have become overly involved with the details of other people’s lives.

If you are an Earth person or you feel you need to regain your self confidence, indulge in lemon, marigold, citrine, primrose or sun drenched colored sheets. These colors will remind you to take back your joy, that you are forever connected and your generous heart is valued.

Too Preoccupied To Notice? Originality, wisdom and creativity feed the Water person’s nature. They can become so absorbed with their projects they may fail to remember their partner’s birthday. They need encouragement where intimacy, tenderness and warmth are concerned.

If you are a Water type or you feel you need to develop a softer approach with your partner (or yourself), sleep on creamy yellow or honey colored sheets to restore trust, openness and communication.

If you want vitality to spring into action, initiate your projects and feed your creativity then sleep on jade, kelly or lime green sheets. These colors will give you the support to express your boundless ideas. The color of water, black is rarely used to color bathe in bed.

Want to recover your joy? Metal personality types love simplicity and precision. Beautiful systems are what Metal does best; they have the elegance to perfect form and function. Their projects will involve order and containment.

Anything that is spontaneous is shapeless and vague but spontaneity is the necessary complement to stir intimacy and creative juices, keeping things fresh and vital. Too much repetition can cause a dullness of the spirit.

If you are a Metal type or you are a person who wants to raise your curiosity and feel inspired, sleep on tea rose, dawn pink or sea shell coral linens to bring enthusiasm and add a robust spirit to your life.
